Stars Of The Day

Azman Abdullah - Coach!!

Singapore's first ever IFBB Mr Universe, local icon. I have the honour to be trained under him for the 2009 National Bodybuilding Championships. He gave me sound advice and pushed me to greater heights. Coach, if you are reading this, I am truly grateful for your wonderful guidance and valuable time.

I met Rick because we shared the same passion for bodybuilding. Having been through "thick and thin" together, I could see that he has made a stark improvement in his physique since the earliest days. He has certainly motivated me to bulk up and reach out for my goal.

Big Guns!!!

Firdaus aka Fir Ray offered me a sweet potato during weigh-in for the National Bodybuilding Championships. Ever so humble and hardworking, he was awarded 2nd runner-up for "75kg & Below" category, his first competition on the national level.

First National bodybuilding experience

I used to be only able to conjure up images of myself in a muscular physique as I was a pudgy kid. I loathed exercising back then and I (still) have a huge appetite. My teen years began my first “transformation” when I participated in various adrenaline-pumping extra-curricular activities such as the lion dance troupe and gym in my school, as well as Chinese martial arts which I found time for while studying for a private diploma. But nothing beats the joy and great sense of achievement I would personally experience when I won my first bodybuilding titles - second placing in weight category (Senior 60Kg Below) and first in Classic Bodybuilding 170cm & Below - at the 47th National Bodybuilding Championships.

This was the first time I had competed at the national level. While I work out regularly, the preparation journey was a strict regime of persistent training that involved challenging my limits and conscious dieting that entailed specially-made home-cooked comestible. Beneath the winning façade was nothing more than the age-old philosophy of hard work. This hard work will repeat itself as I will soon embark on my second attempt this 14 December for next year’s annual event. I am looking forward to the physical regime with one new addition – I am going to pen down the process herein with accompanying photographs every week. To be able to document my transformation and anticipation, to be able to share my upcoming arduous journey with everyone is certainly motivating for me!

I will always remember 2009 as the year of milestones and self-discovery as I seek to explore greater physical and mental challenges, in my pursuit of the bodybuilding dream.
